How to Disable Tap To Wake on iPhone

Maximize iPhone Photo Resolution

The Tap to Wake feature on the iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and iPhone XS Max allows the locked iPhone screen to wake up with a tap anywhere on the screen, just as it sounds. This makes a lot of sense since the device lacks a Home button that can be pressed to wake the screen; therefore, tapping anywhere on the display somewhat replicates the Home press function. However, Tap to Wake may cause a lot of unnecessary screen waking, and theoretically, any erroneous screen waking may result in a reduction in battery life.
