How to Determine Whether an iPhone Is New or Refurbished
- Access Settings > General, scroll down, and tap on About.
- Look closely at the Model Number on the About screen.
- It was bought brand-new from Apple if the model number begins with M.
- If the model number begins with F, Apple or a carrier refurbished the device.
- If the model number begins with the letter P, the iPhone was sold with an engraving as a customised item.
- If the model number begins with N, Apple gave it as a replacement for an iPhone that was broken.
